There's not a person who will read this, I think, who wants to hear it, but it is a GORGEOUS day in Birmingham. 70 and sunny. It feels like May. School should be letting out soon. The joggers are out, and roller bladers, and I saw a gentleman, as I was walking home, firing up his grill. This makes me want Eats & Treats and to drive in the car with the windows down.
I also drove through some fantastic country this morning. My screening trips often take me to some of the most rural parts of Alabama. Today was on of those trips, and I passed half a dozen meat-'n-3s, with names like "Annie's Country Kitchen" and "Family Don't Matter Cafe." The fire truck outside a volunteer station had a rounded nose and a wooden truck bed. At 8 am ten men wearing overalls and ball caps were leaning on pick-ups outside the local grocery with coffee mugs. I think I'm crazy, but sometimes it feels like that is the way life should be.
